Glossary for Appropriate Location
- CD-ROM drives
- device you put a CD-ROM into, retrieves data from a CD-ROM, but
does not store data
- disk drives
- device that you put disk into, it retrieves data from a disk,
and places data on a disk for storage
- glare filter screens
- a screen placed over the monitor to reduce glare
- keyboard
- input device that resembles a typewriter keyboard
- monitor
- display device that resembles a televison which may be attached
or separate from the system
- mouse
- a small box with a ball on the bottom that, when rolled on a
flat surface, moves the pointer on the screen
- mouse pad
- a foam pad placed under the mouse for better movement of the
mouse
- printer
- a machine that reads information from the computer and prints
it on paper. There are various kinds that produce different
qualities of print.
- user
- the person(s) that will be using the computer
- wrist pad
- a foam pad placed under the user's wrists for comfort and
protection
