The QEL occupies over 2000 square feet of renovated space in Stevens
Hall. A centerpiece of the lab is its well-curated, 400-drawer
collection of Coleoptera from North and South America. Microscope
equipment includes two Wild M10's, one Wild M8, and two Wild M5's. A
Nikon SMZ-10 microscope is attached to an image analysis system. Input
devices also include slide and flat-bed scanners, and graphic output
devices include a Polaroid-5000 pallette and a 1200-dpi laser printer.
Available on campus is the university's scanning electron microscope
laboratory, as well as the North Dakota State Insect Research
Collection. The QEL research facilities can accommodate visiting
scientists and graduate students.
Personnel of the lab benefit from their relationships with entomologists worldwide.
