3. Should I teach grammar? If yes, how?
An expressivist would say that the teaching of grammar is a lower priority than the writing itself. Expressivists believe that doing grammar exercises rarely transfers into better writing skills. A composition teacher using an expressivist approach must be prepared for the elimination of errors to take a long time as students slowly develop an intuitive feel for their writing. Any lessons on grammar with an expressivist approach would focus on the errors which students actually make within their own writing. For example, writing samples are collected and reviewed for grammar errors, which are then brought to the attention of the writer. Not all nonstandard uses of the language are discouraged either. Expressivists may allow and even encourage the use of nonstandard language if the writer can justify using a nonstandard/ungrammatical format to accomplish a particular goal in the writing.
