Betty Patterson to Lead Pedagogical Luncheon on Active Learning

Teaching faculty and staff are invited to a pedagogical luncheon from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Peace garden Room in the Memorial Union.  Betty Patterson of  pharmacy college will lead the session on "Active Learning: Where I Have Been and Where I Am Going."

Patterson will discuss the active learning activities including a problem-based-learning (PBL) example she did last year.  She has planned two group activities during the luncheon, addressing specific issues which she encountered last year a) problems with group rules and b) problems with peer evaluations.  She will share some comments from the AACP summer institute on PBL and her plans for the coming year based on her experiences, course evaluations, and feedback on PBL.

If you are planning to attend the session, please register by calling Mary Stoa at 1-8671 or by sending e-mail at Mary_Stoa@ndsu.nodak.edu by Monday, October 23.  Please indicate your meal choice from Hot Beef Sandwich or Vegetable Burger.  This event is sponsored by the Faculty Institute for Excellence in Learning (FIEL) with a grant from the Bush Foundation to promote active learning in classrooms.
