Subject: Invitation to a Leadership Presentation on Friday, 2/28, at 9 AM

We are fortunate that, Dr. Christine Cress, one of the main authors of a major report in the fields of higher education and leadership, will be presenting a workshop at NDSU. I have included brief summary and Ed Deckard's invitation below. I hope your schedule will allow you to come to this presentation.

Brief Summary
The quality of leadership in American society will not improve unless colleges and universities make sweeping changes in undergraduate education, campus culture and governance, according to a major report written by a dozen prominent scholars and practitioners in the fields of higher education and leadership.

Leadership Reconsidered: Engaging Higher Education in Social Change calls on college presidents, faculty, staff, and students to rethink their roles, practices and beliefs -- all with the explicit goal of producing future generations of effective leaders. Specifically, the report calls on higher education institutions to intentionally encourage the development of leadership skills in all students; seize on opportunities to model effective leadership; replace hierarchical, individualistic, and competitive styles with collaborative ones; and reaffirm campus connections to the community and to the common good.
