"Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in a Capstone Course" to be presented at the Bush Pedagogical Luncheon

 

Teaching faculty and staff are invited to a pedagogical luncheon from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, in the Reimers Room in the Alumni Center for enhancing comradeship among teachers and student learning. Charles McIntyre, assistant professor of civil engineering and construction will lead the session on "Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in a Capstone Course."

 

The Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at North Dakota State University has adopted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for use in the senior level capstone course. PBL is an instructional method that challenges student to "learn to learn" so that they can achieve their highest potential in their post college careers. The topics for this presentation include and overview of PBL, the sequence of events that led to the use of PBL in the capstone course, and assessment methods.
