Invitation to Bush Pedagogical Luncheon
Teaching
faculty and staff are invited to a pedagogical luncheon from 11:45 a.m.to 1:00
p.m. Wednesday, January 30, in the Prairie-Rose Room in the Memorial Union for
enhancing student learning and comradeship among teachers. Judy Pearson,
professor of communication and associate dean of arts, humanity, and social
sciences college and Paul Nelson, chair and professor of communication will
lead the session on "Problem-Based Learning: Problems and Solutions."
In
this interactive session, Pearson and Nelson will identify some of the problems
faced by those incorporating PBL into their courses. At this juncture, many NDSU professors have become experts on PBL
while others are still novices.
Nonetheless, both beginning and experienced PBL professors face
interesting and complex problems.
What
problems are you facing? Be prepared
with a short oral or written description of one of the issues with which you
are grappling. What solutions can you
offer? Please come ready to share ideas
that may be responsive to the issues of others.
If
you are planning to attend the session, please register before Friday, January
25, by calling Mary Stoa at 1-8671
or sending e-mail to Mary.stoa@ndsu.nodak.edu.
A buffet luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m.
The
Faculty Institute for Excellence in Learning (FIEL) is sponsoring this event
with a grant from the Bush Foundation to promote active learning in classrooms.
