6)  Pluto was originally believed to be considerably larger and
    more massive than Earth.  How did we find out that this was
    not correct?

Pluto's moon was discovered. By measuring the period and semimajor axis of its orbit around Pluto, we were finally able to determine Pluto's mass using Newton's laws.
