The first test will be given in class on Wednesday, October 4. Nothing else will be done in class that day.
The test will cover material up through the lecture on Wednesday, September 25. This includes the unit on inferences from the night sky, plus measurements of the planets' masses and radii, inferences from those results, and study of the Moon and (possibly) the terrestrial planets.
The test will consist of ten multiple choice questions and six written questions, the latter being similar in format to the homework. A selection of sample problems from last year's first test is available. Note that the multiple choice questions can have more than one correct answer, and you are asked for all the correct answers.
It is my intention that time should not be a factor on this test. If you find that you need extra time, I will give you some reasonable extra amount of it.
