Ellipsoidal cells with slight polar thickenings.  Parietal plastid with pyrenoid.  Dividing cells have numerous small vacuoles pressed against the plastid.

2-4 autospores.

Preliminary analysis of the 18S rDNA sequence suggests that this isolate is a Scenedesmus relative, closely related to S. rubescens, which it strongly resembles.
