Notes on Tow 2/24 P-3w 2/4/02 Culture started 12/21/01 (not growing well) Eustigmatophyte.  Large spherical coccoid with one or more orange bodies in cytosol. Many refractive granules.  Larger cells break easily, causing the orange body to lose its nearly spherical shape (suggests membrane-bound?) Pictures brightfield, with 40x and 100x objectives.

Notes on Tow 2/24 P-9w 7/1/02 Culture started 5/29/02 - grown on lab bench Spherical coccoid with a band-shaped plastid, no pyrenoid.  A pale-orange body seen in some cells. Reproduction not observed, but lots of old mother cell walls attached to cells.  Eustig?

Notes on Tow 2/24 P-6d 1/9/02 Culture started 12/21/01 - Woods Hole medium Spherical cells with multiple, smooth plastids.  Orange body in cytoplasm.  Probably a eustigmatophyte. Reproduction not observed.

Notes on Tow 2/24 P-10d 7/17/02 Culture started 5/29/02, grown up in WH Spherical Eustigmatophyte.  Very large vacuole, with plastid(s) only at one end of the cell.  Yellow-orange body present in cytoplasm.  Reproduction not observed, but what appear to be remnants of mothercell walls present near many cells.
