Sometimes in clumps.  The cells in clumps mostly spherical.  Other cells Irregular-somewhat pointed cells, nearly spherical, or somewhat elongate or reniform.  Papilla typcially small or not seen.  Many cells with granular inclusions, but not very mobile.  Larger cells typically with multiple plastids or at least the appearance of multiple plastids. Red or orange spots seen in only a few cells.  Autosporulation not seen and only a very few remnant mother cell walls.

This culture is contaminated with an amoeba.

Culture started 6/28/02, WH

Large nearly spherical coccoid.  Not autosporic.  Plastid with multiple granuales (starch grains?)
and pyrenoid.  Numerous vacuoles.  Occassionally cells divide multiple times to form a short chain.
Forms film or flakes in culture.
