Culture started 1/18/01

Large, thin walled coccoid. Mostly spherical, but some cells distorted by the prominent vacuole. Occasionally two vacuoles. Plastid usually a short, thick, twisted band. No pyrenoid seen. Division observed, with autosporulation. Two autospores. Thylakoid stacks visible.

18S sequence analysis reveals that this is a chromophyte, probably a eustigmatophyte.
