Notes on NDem 9/21 P-2w 1/3/02 culture started 12/9/01 Spherical coccoid with multiple plastids in larger cells. Old cells have orange body. Probably a eustigmatophyte. Reproduction not observed. |

Notes on N. Dem 9/21 P-10w 2/3/01 culture started 1/18/01 Type III. Large spheres. Careful observation with DIC shows fine ribs and grains on surface of one very large cell. |

notes on NDem 9/21 P-11w 2/4/01 culture started 1/18/01 Large, thin walled coccoid. Mostly spherical, but some cells distorted by the prominent vacuole. Occasionally two vacuoles. Plastid usually a short, thick, twisted band. No pyrenoid seen. Division observed, with autosporulation. Two autospores. Thylakoid stacks visible. |

Notes on NDem 9/21 T-17w 10/17/01 Culture started 9/24/01 Large coccoid with multiple plastids. Aggregates into masses. Many refractile bodies in cells, moving very rapidly making photographing difficult. Cell walls seem to thicken as the cell nears autosporulation. At sporulation, the thickened wall breaks in one place and the numerous autospores must exit the old wall. Numerous old thick mother cell walls seen. These old walls have a "hairy" surface, which could be bacteria. This isolate may be a eustig. |

Notes
on NDem 8-18T-12w 02/03/04 culture started 1/23/04 eustigmatophyte? Agar identification looked like a eustig; Liquid culture looks a bit like a chlamy, but chloroplast is different and refractile granules present. |
