Elliptical or nearly spherical coccoid when mature, narrowly elliptical to somewhat ovate when young.

Bright green plastid with a grainy appearance. No pyrenoids. Some cellular inclusions,

but not lipid droplets. Autosporulation not observed. Granules or bumps on the surface of many, but

not all, cells.
