 NDFMC Winners in Chicago

Can you believe it? There were over 30 people from North Dakota registered at the Fall/Centennial national board meeting. How could there be so many? Our Youth Day participants brought family and teachers; we all had a lot of fun and plenty to celebrate!!!

Call to Fall Board meeting – Sept 19

You will get a full report and pictures of the Chicago event at the state fall board meeting in Jamestown, September 19 at the Dakota Inn. Meeting starts at 9:00 and we’ll aim for a 2:30 adjournment. We have a block of rooms reserved at state rates ($35 single/45 double + taxes). You need to reserve a room by Wednesday, Sept 9. Be sure to specific NDFMC and the state rate.

Remember to bring 25 copies of your committee or office report. If you are a club president, please bring 4 copies of your yearbook and a list of your current officers

Awards for EVERY local unit

Another reason to celebrate…every North Dakota federated club won at least one award this year. I have the certificates; BUT someone from your club needs to attend the board meeting to get them.

Junior Festival workshop

Eleanor Johnson, state and region junior festival chair attended the national workshop and has information for local junior festival chairs. The state federation has purchased liability insurance for all festivals. A representative of each junior festival is expected to attend the state workshop held in conjunction with the state board meeting, September 19.

Carolyn’s Comments

My husband and I attended a legislative conference in Indianapolis earlier this month. After the adjournment, we took a cab to the NFMC national office. Melinda gave us the grand tour. I now have a better idea of what the NFMC can provide state and local units.

We had a good time at the Peace Gardens with NFMC President Barbara Irish. The 10 recipients of the Jardine and Gay King scholarships were very appreciative; several of them also received other camp awards during the evening program. Thanks to the Thursday Music Club of Grand Forks for hosting the reception.
