1) The topic must be geological and scientific.

2) The topic must be one for which no credit has been given in other courses.

3) The presentation should be about 20 minutes in length

4) The presentation must begin with a clear statement about the scientific question 
     that is being addressed.

5) The presentation should be accompanied by overhead transparencies, slides,
     specimens, and other visual aids.             

6).The presentation can be made using Powerpoint but you have to be responsible 
     for signing out a portable computer and a digital projector.  These have to be 
     requested from IACC at least one week before the presentation.  Check the IACC
     sign-up procedures.

7) The presentation will be accompanied by a html document that you will make available for posting 
	 on the web site on the Wednesday before your seminar.   The page should contain:

    (1) a concise, 100 word abstract,
    (2) outline, 
    (3) labeled and titled diagrams,
    4) references in GSA journal format
    e.g. recent examples:

8) You are expected to use several sources (books, journals, magazines, world wide web) in preparation
    for the seminar.  You must, however,  use at least  3 relatively recent journal articles dating from 1990
    or later (consult with faculty if you are uncertain about this requirement). 

   9) You must clearly indicate in your presentations how information from the journal articles
        is being used (Show citation on overhead, Powerpoint or verbally)
