| David Silkenat (Ph.D. 2008: University of North Carolina -- Chapel
Hill: 19th Century US History, Southern History, Civil War and Reconstruction, Slavery). Dr. Silkenat is currently completing a manuscript examining the Civil War's impact on suicide, divorce, and debt in North Carolina. His work has received the William F. Holmes Award from the Southern Historical Association and has been featured on WUNC's The State of Things. He has a joint appointment with the School of Education, where he teaches Social Studies Education.
