Dr. Scott Korom, University of North Dakota will present:
Aquifer (Denitrification) Assessment: Whose Job is it Anyway?
Abstract:Dr. Korom will discuss processes of denitrification in aquifers, and will briefly discuss at least two other important parameters in aquifer assessment: arsenic mobility (with respect to the lowering of the drinking water standard) and organic carbon concentrations (with respect to organic contaminant transport). He will also discuss strengths (and implied weaknesses) of various disciplines (geology, soil science, ecology, civil and environmental engineering) in assessing aquifers for water quality issues.
