Employment Opportunities

The Division of Fine Arts is currently searching for the following position:

Student Employment Opportunities

Each year, the Division provides a number of student employment opportunities, including employment in the fine arts office, music libraries, theatre box office, theatre scene shop, theatre costume shop, and visual arts department. Most employment is ope n only to those students eligible for the federal work-study program, however, students with special skills in piano accompaniment, carpentry, and sewing are frequently hired regardless of work-study status. Students eligible for work-study who wish to work in the division should request assignment to the division from the Financial Aid Office. Nonwork-study students interested in employment within the division should come to the division office during office hours.

Student Employment Opportunities at Festival Concert Hall

Every year, Festival Concert Hall employs approximately 40-50 students. These students work in one or more of five areas:

  • Ushers
  • Stage Hands
  • Box Office
  • Lighting
  • Sound


No experience is necessary for ushers, stage hands, or box office--training is provided. The starting salary for students in the concert hall is $.50/hr over minimum wage. Students whose work is satisfactory and who continue their employment at the hall in the same area are given a $0.25 per hour raise each year. Students who have experience in lighting or sound will be eligible for higher starting salaries.

Employment Opportunities at Little Country Theatre

Work-Study Employment

Every year, Little Country Theatre employs approximately fifteen to twenty work-study students. These students work in one or more of three areas:

  • Scene Shop
  • Costume Shop
  • Box Office


While carpentry and/or sewing skills are helpful, the theatre staff is willing to train eager students who may not have these skills.

The starting salary for work-study students in the theatre is $.50/hr over minimum wage. Students whose work is satisfactory and who continue their employment at the theatre in the same area are given a $0.25 per hour raise each year.

If you are interested in work-study at the theatre, go to the Financial Aid Office, Ceres 202, to check on your eligibility and receive a work-study contract. Once you have a work-study contract, bring it to:

Skilled Labor

Periodically, Little Country Theatre employs students with special skills who are not eligible for work-study funds. The special skills sometimes required are:

  • Carpenters, welders, etc. to assist in the scene shop
  • Sewers to assist in the costume shop
  • Sign painters to paint LCT advertising signs
  • Musicians to play in the orchestra for musical productions
