James Rosenquist Artist Residency
at North Dakota State University

Mission

The James Rosenquist Artist Residency offers a unique opportunity for an artist chosen from around the world the opportunity to reside and work as a resident artist exploring and developing their personal vision, interacting with students and the community. This residency benefits the artist as well as the visual arts and North Dakota State University (NDSU), fostering the arts in the community and region.

Overview

The James Rosenquist Artist Residency is named in honor of this important visual artist who was born and spent his formative years in North Dakota. NDSU presented Mr. Rosenquist with an honorary degree in 2005.

The James Rosenquist Artist Residency is a one-semester program, beginning spring semester 2007, for visual artists at the NDSU Department of Visual Arts in Fargo, ND. NDSU Visual Arts provides artists with a studio, living quarters and meals, and $8,000 USD stipend, limited funds for supplies and materials, and the recipient is encouraged to explore the offerings of the university and will have a tuition waiver for at least one course from any discipline during the semester in residence. Artists pay for their own travel, shipping, and long distance telephone charges.
