Music Faculty Openings.

Trumpet:  North Dakota State University invites applications for a position in studio trumpet—full time, starting August 15, 2008.  The position is open due to a late resignation, and, depending on the applicant pool, may be offered as a tenure-track appointment with appropriate rank based on qualifications and experience, or as a one-year visiting appointment.  NDSU offers bachelor’s degrees in performance, music education, and liberal studies; Master of Music degrees in performance, conducting, and music education; and D.M.A. degrees in performance and conducting.  NDSU’s trumpet studio is quite strong, and contains both undergraduate and graduate students.  NDSU is located in Fargo, the region’s largest fine arts community, where auditioned performance experiences include the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, the Fargo-Moorhead Opera, the Jazz Arts Big Band, and numerous other opportunities. 

Position Description:  (1) Teach studio trumpet, related classes, and chamber ensembles, (2) Teach/perform/contribute in ancillary areas of the successful candidate’s expertise and departmental need,  (3) Contribute as a full faculty member in music with typical recruitment, research/creative, and service expectations.

Rank:  Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, tenure-track; or Visiting Instructor, one-year appointment.

Salary:  Dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications: 

1.  Doctorate in trumpet performance for tenure-track appointment; “ABD” acceptable for initial appointment at the rank of Instructor. Master’s degree required for one-year appointment.

2.  Outstanding trumpet performance and teaching abilities.

3.  Proven ability to interact collegially and effectively with a variety of constituencies; excellent communication skills.

4.  Proven ability or potential to recruit effectively and maintain a high- quality applied studio.

Preferred:  Versatility in additional areas, which may include ensemble conducting, jazz, music education, technology/computer applications, and/or other ancillary skills and abilities.

Theatre Faculty Openings.

Guest Scenic Designer/Teacher: North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, United States

Department of Theatre Arts

NDSU Theatre Arts has 55 undergraduate majors and six full-time faculty members, and offers the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in performance and technical theatre.  The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.  Little Country Theatre, with its newly renovated facilities, is the producing arm of the department, and typically offers four productions per year.  Performance spaces available include a 385-seat proscenium theatre, a 125-seat capacity black box, and a 1,000-seat concert hall for musicals.
