At a time of increased global competitiveness and change, leaders of today need to be equipped to understand, and effectively deal with rapid changes that affect organizations. It could be said that being effective amid social, cultural and organizational change, is the key to being an effective and successful leader today. Cultural Diversity: A Seminar for Effective Leadership, features Dr. Lamin Sanneh, D. Willis James Professor of Missions and World Christianity, and Professor of History at Yale University. Professor Sanneh will lead an inquiry where all participants are invited to contribute. This inquiry will include inviting participation with questions such as "What is Diversity?" and "Whose Diversity Should We Honor?" This seminar calls upon the participant to answer that question for him or herself, in an attempt to come to a deeper understanding of so important an issue. As a result, leaders will find themselves more effectively managing change in their organizations. The seminar attempts to go beyond a superficial understanding of cultural diversity, to one that aims to broaden and deepen the cultural perspective of the participant.

The seminar will address managing cultural diversity in both the private and public sector. Guest lecturer from the public sector will be Mr. Bruce Furness – Mayor of Fargo and from the private sector, Mr. David Pinder – General Manager of Cardinal Insulated Glass. Facilitating the session will be Ms. Yoke-Sim Gunaratne of Cultural Diversity Resources.
