If you are interested in having an object for inclusion into our collection, the process is as follows:

1. Contact the Emily P. Reynolds Historic Costume Collection (701-231-7367 or email: Ann.Braaten@ndsu.nodak.edu or Sara.Sunderlin@ndsu.nodak.edu) about the item you are interested in preserving. This allows collection representatives to determine whether the item fits into the needs of the collection.

2. The costume collection representative will ask you to ship or bring the item to NDSU. The mailing address is:

Emily P. Reynolds Historic Costume Collection (GRHC)
NDSU -- EML 178, P.O. Box 5057
Fargo, ND 58105-5057

3. The acquisitions committee will review the item for inclusion into the collection. If the item is accepted, donors will be contacted via US Mail. If the item is not accepted, the item will be returned to the donor or shared with other entities, as indicated by the donor.

4. A description of the gift and a deed of gift form will be sent to the donor for his or her signature. The completion of the paperwork transfers ownership of the donated item to NDSU.

5. Donated items will be cataloged and described.

6. Any information that you may have about the garment's maker or the item's acquisition, its owners, where it was worn, the wearer's family history, and where they lived is appreciated. This information will be kept on file for future historians to give an understanding about the people who used the item.
