Budget Summary

North Dakota NASA EPSCoR is currently soliciting travel proposals from the University of North Dakota (UND) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) faculty in the physical sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Travel requests should facilitate one of the following interactions with NASA: 1) foster direct collaborative research with personnel at one or more NASA field centers, 2) conduct preliminary research in support of a future non-NASA EPSCoR research proposal, 3) to attend a NASA-related conference, and 4) to also fund graduate student participation in one of the above three activities.

Awards require 1:1 match from the PI. Match may be provided by cash or in-kind contributions. We expect most match will be composed of state-appropriated salary and tuition waivers. The goal of this NASA EPSCoR funding is to make award recipients nationally competitive for future, non-EPSCoR solicitations.

Travel funds are available immediately and must be spent no later than June 30, 2007.

Proposals must include:

1. Cover page that lists principal investigator contact information, campus, amount     of award, department chair signature, statement that PI has/has not received ND NASA EPSCoR funding since July 1, 2004.

2. A one-page description of the proposed travel and its relevance to NASA.

3. Name and contact information of collaborating NASA researcher(s).

4. A Budget Summary (available at the top of this NASA RFP).

5. If applicable, a statement of how a graduate student will benefit from this travel.

One original and two copies of proposals are due in the UND or NDSU ND EPSCoR office by noon, April 13, 2007. Also, an electronic submission of the proposal as a single PDF attachment must be sent to Carla Kellner, carla.kellner@und.nodak.edu.

A one-page report is due at the end of the travel prior to travel cost reimbursement.

Questions regarding this announcement can be addressed to Paul S. Hardersen, Director, ND NASA EPSCoR, (Hardersen@space.edu, 701-777-4896) or Carla Kellner (Carla.Kellner@und.nodak.edu, 701-777-2492).
