DCE Credit Announcement |
ATTN STUDENTS: Distance and Continuing Ed courses count toward credit totals but are not covered under the NDSU tuition cap and are not eligible for waivers. You will be charged for each DCE credit over the full-time credit load (12-fall/spring, 9-summer). If you are enrolled in fewer credits than full-time, you will be charged per credit, just like regular courses. Please review your tuition account balances online via Peoplesoft to avoid any confusion about amounts owed. National Guard members may be eligible for a 25 percent waiver. |

Accessing a Course
In addition to the confirmation of your on-line registration, you will be sent an e-mail asking you to confirm your NDSU student id, social security number and date of birth so that your registration can be processed. Please respond to that e-mail as soon as possible.
When the course is to begin, you will be sent an e-mail giving you access to the course web-site or other course information. You should access the course site promptly to inquire about the course starting and ending dates, assignments, quizzes, tests, and other course related information.
If you are a regular NDSU student, you will need to activate your NDSU e-mail account if you have not already done so in order to use the Blackboard web-site for the class. You can do that either in person at ITS or online by following the instructions at: http://its.ndsu.nodak.edu/help/request_email.shtml using the NDSU Enroll system (http://enroll.nodak.edu). If you have questions with the enrollment process, you may call the help desk staff at 231-8685 or send an e-mail to them at: help.desk@ndsu.nodak.edu
Admissions Information
Are you presently a NDSU student? If you are not presently enrolled as a student at NDSU but intend to seek a degree from NDSU, you must complete the admissions process before you can be registered and pay your course fees. You will find admissions information on-line via the DCE web-site at www.ndsu.nodak.edu/DCE. Non-degree seeking students (those seeking "Special Student Status") will also find admissions information via the DCE website.
Course Fees, etc.
* Course fees are due upon registration and can be paid by credit card or are payable at the business office. DCE courses are funded differently from regular courses. DCE courses will count toward the credit totals for financial aid but not toward the NDSU tuition cap (if you are at full-time status {Fall/Spring semester cap = 12 crs; summer semester cap = 9 crs} already, the addition of DCE course credits would add to your total tuition owed) and are not eligible for tuition waivers. *For financial aid recipients, DCE course fees are due and payable at the business office upon disbursement.
Course Schedules
Most fall semester courses begin August 23, 2005, and end December 16, 2005, however, you must refer to course information upon access to the course to verify course schedules and requirements. Courses need to be completed by the end of the semester unless otherwise stated. Should you need additional time to complete the course work, you must request an extension from the instructor.
Dropping a Course
You must notify the office of Distance and Continuing Education (DCE) in writing or by email (Karen.Murie@ndsu.edu) to drop a course. Refunds are issued according to the NDSU drop policy for undergraduate courses. Registrations for courses offered by Distance & Continuing Education will appear on your official NDSU records.
Textbooks and Related Materials
Information about necessary course materials will be available via the course syllabus which will be provided to you when given access to the course. When applicable, course textbooks are available (unless otherwise stated in the course syllabus or notified by e-mail) from the North Dakota State University Bookstore and can be ordered with a credit card at 701-231-7761, or purchased in person at the bookstore.
