Equipment: the nuts and bolts

Technical equipment is part of most modern communication, and professionals are usually expected to learn how to use many of the machines while at university. NDSU offers some excellent equipment available to communication students:

Radio and television production equipment

Broadcast students benefit from professional equipment available to them at the studies of Prairie Public Television.

Computer technology

  • Access to many Macintosh and PC computer labs for design and editing students, equipped with InDesign computerized pagination and Photoshop image manipulation software, Dreamweaver web design software, as well as drawing and word-processing software, scanners, printers, digital cameras, and a wide variety of other hardware and software for student use. Computers and software are always kept up to date.

Multi-media

  • The university's multi-media room includes high-quality flat-bed scanners for art and photos, reproduction quality laser printers, photo manipulation software (Photoshop), color laser printers, and basically everything a professional would need to produce press-ready material.

Communication library and meeting room

  • The university library, one of the state's largest, subscribes to many major communication journals to offer research students a strong database of essential materials. Students also have easy access to the entire tri-college consortium library, a base of more than two million documents.

But what's free?
