Co-Op, Internship, and Experiential Learning
Today companies and organizations expect the college graduates they hire will have had a career-related experience as part of their degree program. The College of Business requires a three-credit practicum experience for students majoring in accountancy, accounting, business and management information systems. Internships provide a measure of practical experience in the student's primary area of study and should allow for the application of concepts and tools learned. In addition, the internship allows the student to pretest his/her career choice, begin to establish professional contacts and improve self-confidence, time management and communication and presentation skills.
For help making the appropriate choice for fulfilling the requirement, students should meet with their academic adviser.
- Students must be accepted into the professional program before undertaking their internship and registering for the Practicum credit(s).
