Accounting Major

   The Accounting Major is a four-year,130 credit hour, program which leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. The major prepares and qualifies students to take the examinations required to become a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

   Students who plan to sit for the ND Certified Public Accountant (CPA) professional examination must have completed 150 semester hours of education. Students should consult with their faculty advisor for further details.

   Requirements and recommended curriculum presented here reflect the most current catalog year (2007-2008). For more information contact an advisor in the Department of Management, Marketing and Finance.

Details
  • Students who plan to sit for the ND Certified Public Accountant (CPA) professional examination must have completed 150 semester hours of college education. Students should consult with their faculty adviser for further details.
  • A 2.50 cumulative GPA is required to enroll in 300 – 400 level accounting, business, or management information systems courses.
  • A letter grade must be earned in any course that fulfills a major requirement.
Degree Requirements
  1. Students must complete all course and credit requirements for a major in accounting.
  2. Students must earn a 2.50 institutional cumulative GPA to graduate.
  3. Of the credits completed in residence at least 30 credits must be in 300-400 level Accounting, Business, and Management Information Systems courses.
  4. Students must be accepted to the professional program prior to the completion of the last 30 credits in 300 and 400 level Accounting, Business Administration, and Management Information Systems courses.
