John Elder is Associate Professor of Finance and has served as Associate Dean for Graduate and Executive Education for the College of Business. He has published more than fifteen articles in academic journals, including the Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Futures Markets and Journal of Macroeconomics; and has been cited by the U.S. Congress (cf. Joint Economic Committee), popular textbooks (cf. A Guide to Econometrics) and practitioners (cf. Institutional Shareholder Services). His primary research interests relate to the role of monetary policy in empirical asset pricing and applied time series econometrics, although he has also published articles in corporate finance, market microstructure, macroeconomics and econometrics. He has taught at the University of Virginia, Middlebury College and NDSU, and he is very grateful for having been nominated by students multiple times for the College of Business Teaching Award. He also serves on the Investment Advisory Committee at State Bank & Trust Investments (with more than $1.5 billion under management), the Board of Editors of the Journal of Economics and Finance, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
