Professor Dietz, a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, served in the private sector for several years as controller and finance director in the health care industry. Previously she served as assistant professor and lecturer at NDSU and Concordia College, returning to NDSU in 2001. She teaches accounting, survey of accounting for non-business majors and management control systems. Professor Dietz's areas of research are education and health care financial management. She is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and the Medical Group Management Association.
