American Society of Clinical Pathologists
The ASCP offers $1000 scholarships to outstanding students enrolled in their final clinical year of study in Cytotechnologist (CT), Histologic Technician (HT), Histotechnologist (HTL), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), or Medical Technologist (MT) programs. Deadline to submit scholarship applications is October 31. To be eligible for the ASCP Scholarship Program, an applicant must be enrolled in a NAACLS or CAAHEP accredited laboratory science program, in the final clinical year of education, and either a United States citizen or a permanent resident. Students also must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Scholarship selection criteria include academic achievement, leadership abilities, professional goals, and endorsements from faculty and community leaders. A 500 word essay is required.
North Dakota Society for CLS
Student ASCLS/NDCLS members who are currently enrolled in their final year of an accredited clinical laboratory science program in North Dakota are eligible. The number and amount of the scholarships ($500.00) are approved by the NDSCLS on an annual basis. Applications are available each spring from the NDSCLS secretary/treasurer. An application, brief essay (100 words) which outlines your plans for a career in CLS, and transcript of CLS program grades are required.
EmiL Von (Dade) Behring
If you are enrolled in your third or fourth and final clinical year of education in a Medical Technologist (MT/CLS) program, you could receive one of the $2500 scholarships awarded by Dade Behring. Eligibility requirements include: enrollment in a NAACLS or CAAHEP accredited laboratory science program and be in the third or fourth year of education, have a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0, be a United States citizen OR a permanent U.S. resident, and submit a complete application packet. Deadline: November 1.
Mary Jo Langenwalter CLS Scholarship
Mary Jo Langenwalter, a Wahpeton native, was an employee of MeritCare Transplant Services and was very active in the laboratory science field, as well as in many civic and charitable activities. She believed strongly in education and helping others. This $500 tuition scholarship is awarded by the MeritCare Foundation in memory of Mary Jo. It is based primarily on financial need and a brief essay written by the student. Students who have been accepted into the internship at MeritCare are eligible to apply before they begin the internship. Deadline for application: May 15
Dean's Scholarship
$1000.00 award annually to a CLS intern based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement and leadership within the college. Applications are available from the Department of Allied Sciences. Deadline for receipt of applications is July 1.
