First Impression?

Accounting - Casual.

Ag Business - OK, but could be more professional.

Ag Lending - Too casual, especially with no shirt under the sweater.

Ag Processing - This look would depend on position seeking - summer or seasonal/intern.

Education / K-12 - Pleasant and comfortable.

Engineering - Civil/Construction - Good.

Engineering - Construction - This individual is looking for a skilled crafts or manual labor work.

Engineering - Manufacturing - Looks business casual.

Engineering - Manufacturing - Casual.

Financial - Casual.

Healthcare - Neat casual attire.

Health Insurance - Looks nice for business casual.

Hospitality - This person likes to have fun and is very outgoing.

Information Technology - This looks like your typical college students dress for class.

Marketing - He should be pouring me a pint of Guinness in an Irish pub while reciting poetry. Casual, comfortable, approachable, earthy.

Medical Device / Biotechnology - Casual.

Retail Merchandising - A nice casual outfit

Appropriate to wear to an interview?

Ag Lending - No, can't tell if the slacks are cords, colored jeans or Dockers.

Ag Processing - Yes.

Education / K-12 - This COULD be appropriate for an interview if there was a button down shirt under the sweater. As it is the statement is too casual and indicates that the person does not know the kind of impression that he is creating.

Engineering - Civil/Construction - No, I think it is too casual and gives the impression that the student does not take the process seriously.

Engineering - Manufacturing - No, I expect students to look professional, not business casual.

Engineering - Manufacturing - No, too casual.

Healthcare - Could be in a casual setting.

Health Insurance - Depends on the job.

Hospitality - Only for an entry level position in the industry.

Information Technology - This is very casual. This outfit does not suggest that your interview is a special or important event and it also does not make you look professional or present yourself in a professional light.

Marketing - Yes, if the job is at a book store or record shop - somewhere where the atmosphere is fresh and intellectual.

Medical Device / Biotechnology - Inappropriate to wear to an interview. Too casual to interview for entry level exempt position in medical device company.

Retail Merchandising - Not appropriate for most interviews. There is nothing that coordinates in color or style. It is just too casual. He might also consider shaving to get some types of jobs - others that would not be as important.

Accounting, Ag Business, Financial, Engineering - Construction - No.

Appropriate to wear to a Career Fair?

Ag Business - Ok, but it always pays to have a collar shirt under the sweater.

Ag Lending - Yes, but add a shirt under the sweater and make sure the pants are not jeans or cords.

Education / K-12 - This would certainly work in a casual event, nothing more.

Engineering - Civil/Construction - Yes for underclassman - maybe not for a senior trying to impress a prospective employer.

Engineering - Manufacturing - Yes - looks semi-professional.

Hospitality - Only if it is a casual event. This would not be acceptable for meeting people for the first time face to face.

Information Technology - I do not feel this would be a good outfit to wear to a career fair if you are trying to sell yourself to an employer for a full-time or internship position. You want to make a lasting and positive first impression and this outfit does not set you apart from the rest.

Marketing - No, too casual.

Medical Device / Biotechnology - Inappropriate to wear to a career event.

Retail Merchandising - Possibly, but not if he is planning on actively seeking an interview with the recruiters that attend.

Accounting, Engineering - Construction, Financial - No.

Ag Processing, Engineering - Manufacturing, Healthcare, Health Insurance - Yes.
