What is the NDSU Donor Advised Fund

The NDSU Donor Advised Fund is a new program designed to benefit NDSU's most generous alumni and friends. NDSU can receive, invest and manage gifts to multiple charities on you and your family's behalf. Your Fund benefits from the valuable investment services provided by NDSU Development Foundation at no cost to you or your family.

How you can benefit NDSU and other charitable institutions

You, your spouse, and in some cases, adult children may request at any time that a portion of up to 50 percent of the income and principal of your fund be distributed by NDSU Development Foundation to other charitable organizations. NDSU benefits from the balance of the income and principal of your fund. You can designate the use of your gift at NDSU .

How you can save taxes and other costs

You may deduct your gift to your NDSU Donor Advised Fund at full fair market value from your income tax liability. With the Donor Advised Fund, you avoid the ongoing "hassle factor" associated with private foundations--the on-again, off-again ability to deduct gifts at full fair market value.

A Donor Advised Fund also eliminates the administrative and legal costs and requirements associated with private foundation you or your family.

How you can establish a NDSU Donor Advised Fund

You can establish your own named NDSU Donor Advised Fund with an irrevocable gift to NDSU. Each Donor Advised Fund is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Generally, the minimum funding amount required is $50,000. Your fund can accept additional contributions at any time.
