Are you ready to take your Spanish to the next level? At
the University of Burgos, in the northern Castilian area
of Spain known as “the land of castles,” you
will have the opportunity to attend classes side-by-side
with University of Burgos students. |

About
the area
Burgos,
capital of the province of the same name, is a medium-sized
city located halfway between Madrid and the French border.
The cradle of Castilla and the setting of many heroic events
in the Middle Ages, the city and province of Burgos have
countless national monuments--castles, monasteries, palaces,
churches--that testify to the past greatness of the area.
El Cid and Fernan Gonzalez, two Castilian heroes, were both
from Burgos. The area enjoys pleasant temperatures in the
summer and fall months, much cooler than those of southern
or central Spain. |
About
the University
The
Universidad de Burgos is a relatively new university, although
it was previously an important "colegio universitario"
affiliated with the Universidad de Valladolid. It currently
has about 11,000 students and is divided into two campuses,
the Campus on the river Vena, site of the Higher Polytechnic
School, and the Campus of San Amaro (Hospital del Rey) which
is home to the rest of the faculties and installations. |
