About the Area
Located close to the cities of Maroochydore and Noosa,
USC is just a short distance from renowned surf beaches, hinterland
forests, and next to the Mooloolah River National Park. Families
of wild kangaroos also call the campus home and the Sunshine
Coast is only about one hour by car from Brisbane, a major metropolitan
city. The famous Australian Zoo, former home of Steve Irwin (The Crocodile
Hunter), is also right next door to USC. Its beautiful scenery,
warm climate, friendly people and a safe, relaxed atmosphere
all along the 65 kilometers of beaches that's called the Sunshine Coast.
The
USC Academic Structure
USC is a regional university with approximately 3,500 students
and 400 staff. A smaller university means smaller class sizes
and a friendly campus. The university is comprised of three departments or "faculties" - Arts and Social Sciences; Business; and Science, Health and Education (click each department name for more information).
As a study abroad student, you'll have
access to all facilities, resources and student support services
on campus and enjoy an extensive activity and orientation program.
You are also able to register for any course in which you have
the proper pre-requisites completed. You are required to be
enrolled full time in the equivalent of at least 12 NDSU credits.
You may want to also participate in an unpaid internship in
your field for credit. (Information on internships found in the gold bar on the right-hand side of this page)

Obtaining Australian Overseas Health Cover
Overseas Health Cover is required for any NDSU student studying at Sunshine Coast for a semester or longer. OSHC is arranged through Sunshine Coast and is included free-of-charge to study abroad students going to USC. The OSHC card is available to the student upon arrival in Australia and USC can arrange it for you. OSHC does not cover you while in transit to and from Australia, so you would also be required to purchase NDSU's study abroad insurance plan.
