At the beginning of each semester, an hour-long "Re-Entry" meeting is held for study abroad returnees who are just coming back to NDSU. If you are on your way back from studying abroad, you will receive an email invitation to attend this session.
During this session, we will talk about credit transfer and make sure any other questions you have are discussed. We will also discuss the meaning of reverse culture shock and give suggestions on how to deal with it. Part of the session will be devoted to stories of your own personal study abroad experiences if you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts.
Finally, we’ll talk about getting involved with NDSU’s international student population and how it can help you foster new international friendships and connections here at home. Here's something to think about--your international experience doesn’t by any means have to end with your experience abroad! Get involved in NDSU's International Student Association (ISA) who puts on an annual International Night review during International Week every Spring, among many other fun activities and events. Become a study abroad Peer Mentor! Peer Mentors are former study abroad students who agree to help out with various study abroad activities. Being a Peer Mentor is completely voluntary, and it is up to you as to how much time you can donate. More information on the Peer Mentor program will be given at this Re-Entry session or you can click here to find out more. Contribute to the Study Abroad Newsletter, Destinations, which is published each semester. If you are are current or returned study abroad student who is interested in contributing a short paragraph, story or photo(s), please contact me by email or phone.
