Minutes
1. There were no corrections to the minutes of the December 1,
1999, meeting.
Announcements:
1. Chenoweth discussed the Next Generation Interactive Classroom/
Problem-Based Learning project. Three members of that group attended
a workshop on PBL at the University of Delaware and will be sharing
some of their experiences on Thursday, January 27 at 11:30 and 12:30
in the University Chamber.
2. Harrold called for participants to attend the 105th
Annual
Meeting of the NCA on April 1-4, 2000 in Chicago. The NCA web

Bob Harrold will be one of the participants. Please contact him
if you are interested in attending.
3. Harrold announced that the AAHE Conference will be held in
June
in Charlotte, NC. Closing date for this meeting will be May 8,
2000.
There is an opportunity for two committee members to attend.

Unfinished Business
1. The Senate Committee will be meeting on Monday, January 24,
2000
to discuss the new by-laws written by the Senate Committee.
Laura de Haan and Allyn Kostecki are senators and will inform the UAC
of the outcome.
New Business
1. Richard Shaw discussed assessing quantitative and writing skills
(the Bush Grant General Education Assessment Project). A handout
was
given to all members. Comments and suggestions should be directed
to
Richard Shaw or Bill Martin.
2. Activities to be scheduled by subcommittees were discussed
and
will be discussed again at the next meeting (February 3, 2000).
3. There was a discussion on activities described in the grant
application to the Bush Foundation:
- Assessment speaker series
- Department luncheon series
- General education assessment
- Small grant program
- Internal and external
evaluation
